Runbooks are emergency interfaces
A useful runbook does not explain the whole system. It helps a tired engineer make the next correct move.
Include:
- Symptoms
- First checks
- Safe commands
- Rollback steps
- Escalation path
Avoid long essays. In an incident, nobody wants a novel. They want a map.
